When speaking of the resurrection, Paul said that he was the least among the apostles—unworthy, undeserving of such a calling —for he had once persecuted the Church, stood against the truth, and rejected Jesus. Yet what a powerful turning point! Having encountered the risen Lord, and by the grace of God alone, he came to know the power of the resurrection life. He was transformed into a faithful and hardworking messenger of the gospel, proclaiming the mystery of salvation. This is the glory of God!
Paul knew deeply how unworthy he was, and how immeasurably great the Lord’s grace had been toward him. His heart was moved by that grace, and in response to God’s love, he offered up his life. He did not want to receive such grace in vain. 他比众使徒格外劳苦,三次旅行布道,多次被鞭打、监禁,经历无数危险和患难…He worked harder than all the other apostles—travelling on three missionary journeys, suffering beatings, imprisonment, and facing countless dangers and hardships. Yet he never considered his labour something to boast in. Instead, he said: “It was not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners—while we were still His enemies—Christ died for us. Lord, I am unworthy, yet You gave Your life for me without regret, without hesitation. You have never once looked back on Your decision to save me. How could I ever repay the price You paid? How can I live in a way that does not take Your grace for granted? Not by trying to improve myself or do better in my own strength, but by remembering Your grace every day—and by leaning wholly on You, so that Jesus may live in me.
Lord, thank You for the salvation You accomplished on the cross, and for the power of Your resurrection that saved even an enemy like me. You took Saul—the one who stood against You—and made him Paul, a vessel greatly used by the Lord. Those who now resist the gospel may one day be won by You, and become warriors like Paul, pouring out their lives for Your name. Lord, help me to believe and keep calling on You.Teach me to live out Your love, acceptance, and patience—to believe for revival, and to see the nations turn to You.
