When I read these words, it was as if a beam of light pierced straight into my heart, filling me with deep gratitude — this is the way, the truth, and the life of Jesus. Both believing and suffering are from grace. To believe in the Lord is grace; to suffer for the Lord is also grace. Paul wrote these words from prison — yet his spiritual life was not bound by chains. Instead, he bore witness to the true freedom found in Christ. With a body in captivity, he lived out the glory of heaven.

Paul said, “You are engaged in the same conflict you saw I had and now hear that I still have.” The Lord Jesus also wrestled in His suffering, praying to the Father, “If it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” Even the Son of God wrestled in His suffering. Paul understood the struggle of everyone who suffers for the Lord. He followed Christ — not yielding to the weakness of the flesh, not to complaint but to gratitude, not to despair but to hope. (罗15:13)He wrote his faith through the experiences of his life — for God’s heavenly blessings are hidden in the cross. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” When we respond in faith and take up our own cross, the spiritual blessings of God are released and poured into our lives.

(弗2:12)When I ponder who I am, my heart overflows with thanksgiving. I was once a person without hope, living in sin, trapped in darkness, unable to see the way out. As the Scripture says, “At that time you were separate from Christ… without hope and without God in the world.” But God reached out to me in my despair, choosing me and bringing me into the kingdom of His beloved Son (Colossians 1:13). I was unworthy, yet I received mercy; I was unrighteous, yet by faith I was made righteous. He made me His child — a person of hope and divine calling. My life is no longer empty but called into His glorious purpose.

By faith, my life is not to escape suffering but to encounter grace within it. Suffering is not God’s rejection but His shaping of me; the cross is not shame, but the pathway to glory. (林后4:17)Every blow is God’s workmanship; every tear is a baptism of faith — a process of refining, building, and blessing. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” The path I walk is the very path the Lord Himself has walked — the same road the saints have trod. My moments of suffering are the moments I walk in step and in heart with Him. Paul bore witness to this glorious grace with his life and urged me to treasure it. (腓4:4)Even in affliction he could still say, “Rejoice in the Lord always; I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)

Lord, teach me to obey in suffering, to trust under pressure, and to give thanks even when struck. Let me not be ashamed of suffering, but count it an honour to suffer for You. Though there be tears, let me not lose hope; though there be battles, let me not lose faith. Lord, You said, “A student is not above his teacher.” Your cross and the path of the saints have testified — “If we suffer with Him, we shall also be glorified with Him.” (Romans 8:17) To suffer for the Lord and for righteousness is the only road that leads to glory. As members of Christ’s body, each part of the Church suffers with Christ, filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ (Colossians 1:24), so that Your Church may share in Your glory. Lord, may I walk with You and be of one heart with You in my suffering. (诗84:6)May Your nail-pierced hand lead me through the Valley of Weeping, turning it into a place of springs, and covering it with the blessings of autumn rain. (Psalm 84:6)
