David’s crisis had not yet been resolved. This time, the enemy he faced was from among the nations. Internal strife and external threats were the normal pattern of David’s life, and he had grown accustomed and willing to live a life marked by suffering. (箴17:3)In the furnace of affliction, he cried out again and again, yet God did not reveal Himself immediately on every occasion. For it is the LORD who tests the heart. In the midst of trial, because he did not cease to seek the LORD, he came to know that all things work together for good for those who love God. With the eyes of faith, he saw light in the place of darkness, and hope in the place of suffering.
反而他在旷野,独自面对风餐露宿,各种危险;并经历孤独,惧怕,失败…David never prayed for a life in which all things went smoothly. From his youth, while tending the sheep, he was trained by the LORD alone in the wilderness. He did not receive special favour from his family because of his age. Instead, in the open fields he faced exposure to the elements, danger on every side, and seasons of loneliness, fear, and failure. Yet the grace of God was with him. In the wilderness he fought against wild beasts, tore them apart, and overcame them, guarding the flock entrusted to him. David came to know the name of the LORD and set his heart on trusting in Him. This knowledge was not merely of the mind, but was formed through repeated fellowship with God—knowledge born of faith. In bearing the yoke while still young, he learned that suffering is good and fruitful.
(来5:8)The Lord Jesus, when He came to this earth, lived in the same way—acquainted with suffering and deeply afflicted. “Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered.” The Son of God was always obedient and had no need to learn obedience; yet for our sake He took His place as a man and learned obedience, setting an example for us to follow. In prayer, I see You soothing our wounds with Your nail-scarred hands. Our pain will never compare with Yours. We are but sinners, all once living in rebellion—how much more, then, should we return to our rightful place? In suffering, we are called to endure, to let go, and to submit ourselves to Christ.
Lord, thank You for humbling Yourself and becoming our example. Thank You for allowing us to see David walking in the footsteps of Christ—his whole life offered, his whole life surrendered. His prayers of seeking never fell to the ground; each time You became his shield and his stronghold. You have surely not left us as orphans. Lord, I also place my whole life into Your hands. I no longer turn away from the pain of rejection, nor flee from the suffering of pressure, for all these are within Your good and gracious will. Through every disappointment, You desire that we come to know You more, and that in every small moment we learn to build a living relationship with You. May I draw nearer to You in the midst of suffering.
