David, after living through long seasons of hardship, cried out to God again and again as he waited for a deliverance that seemed slow to arrive. In times of despair, holding on is often harder than giving up. Yet in his pain, David kept choosing to come before God. He did not hide, but poured out his heart honestly before the Lord. His repeated cry, “How long…?” was not a loss of faith, but a humble dependence—weak, yet firmly fixed on God; trusting in God’s salvation even when nothing could yet be seen.
Grief, loneliness, anxiety—the suffering of both body and soul—how deep such pain runs. Yet in every trial, David responded the same way: in the midst of agony, he did not bow to despair, nor did he lose the courage to look upward, nor did he allow complaint or bitterness to consume him. He still had eyes of faith. When the waves were raging and his life seemed to hang by a thread, he saw that the One who saved him was not sword or chariot, nor human power or strength, but the merciful hand of the LORD. He had come to know his God in matters of life and death.
The end of sinners is destruction. But there is a Saviour—His name is Jesus—who came to save His people from their sins. He entered this world and endured persecution and humiliation for our sake. At His most painful moment, He opened the door of forgiveness: “Father, forgive them.” He took the place of us—those who, under pressure, so easily boil over with bitterness and curses—and nailed to the cross, together with Himself, the very root of our suffering: the flesh with its sinful passions and desires. David experienced this salvation and, by walking this path, received the joy of salvation. If we are willing to repent and turn away from sin, we too can receive this joy.
David’s life was marked by countless turnarounds—again and again, life emerging from impossible situations. In the low points of life, the Lord calls us to follow his example:弃绝那些对未知的负面幻想,转而纪念神在属灵前辈和我们身上所行的大事。 to reject negative imaginings about the unknown, andinstead remember the great things God has done in the lives of those who went before us, and in our own lives as well. Whenever I do this, my heart grows warm, joy overflows, and gratitude rises within me.
Lord, I want, like David, to boldly declare and sing: I trust in Your steadfast love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. The steadfast love of the LORD endures forever and never fails. David testified to this, and I have experienced it too; therefore I will bear witness to this God of steadfast love and saving power, so that all may draw near to Him and receive the gift of eternal life.
