In the days of David, the nations around him were filled with Gentiles who did not believe in God, and even the spiritual condition of many among Israel had fallen into decay. 在神眼里满地都是愚顽人:全然败坏、邪恶,拜偶像、污秽、淫乱,行神眼中可憎恶的事…In the eyes of God, the land was full of fools—utterly corrupt and evil—engaging in idolatry, defilement, and sexual immorality, doing what was detestable in the sight of the LORD. They were without holiness and without hope, living in sin; their hearts rejected God and despised righteousness and uprightness. They turned aside from the right way, oppressed and devoured the poor and the needy, and set themselves as enemies of God.
Yet in the midst of this hopeless condition, David’s eyes were opened by the Holy Spirit, and he beheld God’s plan of salvation: that salvation would come forth from Zion in Judah. God would send One from the offspring of Abraham, from the line of David, to come to Zion as the Redeemer of all mankind. He would show grace and bring deliverance—setting God’s people free from sin, releasing the captives, opening the prison doors to those who are bound, and granting joy and gladness to His people.
Though Jesus was rejected by men when He came into the world and was crucified upon the cross, He is the Saviour sent by God. He willingly endured the suffering of the cross, laying down His life, dying in the place of us who did not know God—foolish ones taken captive by sin—so that He might deliver us from sin and its bondage. He is the Light of the world, the salvation of sinners, and the freedom and hope of those who were held captive.
O Lord, it is truly by Your great grace and Your incomparable love that the salvation of Zion has come even to one as small, rebellious, disobedient, and unworthy as I am. I remember the day I became a Christian—how, through repentance, my sins were fully forgiven, and joy overflowed within me; my soul was satisfied. How this calls forth gratitude, rejoicing, and the praise of Your name.
Lord, we thank You for redeeming us from the hand of the enemy, for not leaving us to face alone the many temptations and hardships of this world. You have given us the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, to continue the work of redemption in our hearts. Grant that I may know more clearly the hidden and unrecognised sins within me. Help me to find strength in Your love, that I may overcome these sins—not by relying on my own efforts alone, but by Your grace. May I not only be saved, but also walk in victory: set free from the chains of unforgiveness, fear, bitterness, and shame, and live out a life marked by peace, joy, holiness, and righteousness.
O Lord, we thank You for Your promise that in Christ we receive the name of God’s Son and share in Your kingdom, power, and glory. May we live on the earth so as to glorify You and benefit others, bearing witness to Your precious salvation with a joyful and abundant life.
