From the Old Testament through to the New Testament, the Bible records many testimonies of praise that release God’s mighty power. In 2 Chronicles 20, when King Jehoshaphat was confronted by a powerful enemy, he turned to God and appointed worshippers to go out ahead of the army, praising as they advanced. As the people sang praises, God stepped in and completely defeated the enemy. In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God at midnight in prison; suddenly a great earthquake shook the place, the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.
These testimonies show us that when God’s people face strong enemies or overwhelming challenges, if they choose to offer faith—refusing to focus on how powerful the circumstances are and instead turning to praise God—God Himself brings deliverance.
David came from the tribe of Judah, whose name means praise, and he deeply understood the power of praise. He wrote, “You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel” (Psalm 22:3). What he declares in Psalm 18:3 is not merely a reflection after deliverance, but a statement grounded in his conviction that praise is a sacrifice of faith. When facing powerful enemies, no matter how dangerous the situation, he lifted up God’s name and believed that deliverance would come even before he could see it. David’s life teaches us that actively calling on God and continually offering praise as a sacrifice of faith are key to building intimacy with God and experiencing His saving power.
I have also experienced this in a very real way. When I chose to call on God and praise Him intentionally—fixing my eyes not on how great the problem was, but on how great our God is;当我不再定睛于“我”,而是放下自己,不问对错,听神借着属灵人和环境对我所说的话,完全顺服时…… when I stopped focusing on myself, laid myself down, stopped debating right and wrong, listened to what God was saying to me through spiritual leaders and circumstances, and fully submitted—God began to work in my life and rescued me from the hand of the enemy. Each deliberate cry to Him felt like opening a pathway to walk with God, allowing His strength to fill me and steady me through the storm. Each time I overcame a trial, my heart rejoiced and my spirit was glad, finding joy in the Lord’s salvation.
Victorious Lord, I thank You. I desire to follow David’s example and call on the Lord who is worthy of praise. Let praise become my sacrifice of faith, my spiritual weapon, and my source of victory. Whatever the circumstances, I choose to submit fully to Your will and walk firmly in Your ways. When trials come, help me to lay everything down and praise You first, so that Your throne may come among us. I trust that You will give us courage and wisdom to overcome and to experience the wonder and richness of Your presence. May my heart always remain open before You, declaring Your glory through praise. May our journey through life be filled with songs of “praise, salvation, and praise again.”
