【1Cor15:13】If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

Paul spoke of “fighting wild beasts” as a picture of spiritual warfare—describing the extreme persecution he faced in Ephesus, where he walked through life-and-death situations for the sake of Christ, pressing forward at the cost of his own life. He was not struggling for survival like ordinary people, but striving because of his hope in the resurrection. Deep within his heart was an unshakable conviction: if the dead are not raised, then all his labour, suffering, and striving for the Lord would be meaningless. But because he firmly trusted in the risen Lord, Paul was willing to pour out his life for the gospel.

Paul spoke plainly, saying that if there is no resurrection, people may as well indulge in the pleasures of sin—“eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” He presented two very different choices, leading to two very different outcomes. The worldview of this world is to enjoy life while it lasts, but the heavenly perspective embraces present sufferings for the sake of an eternal kingdom. Paul lived every day striving toward the goal—to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus had taken hold of him, doing everything for the glory of God and for the fulfilment of the gospel.

Lord, we have been bought with the precious blood of Christ, and now we live no longer for ourselves but for the One who died and rose again. Paul received a vision and became a chained messenger, counting his life as nothing so that Gods will might be fulfilled. Lord, this steadfast love moves my heart. Even now, I receive Paul’s zeal—not wasting my days, not grieving Your Spirit, but embracing this glorious calling, running toward the cross, bearing the mission, and offering myself as a living sacrifice to You.

Lord, we also desire to carry on his heart of loving You, counting all that once seemed gain to us as loss for the sake of gaining Christ, for You alone are worthy. Lord, though the spiritual battle is fierce and the storms may rage, You have already triumphed, You have already risen from the dead. I do not want to live like the world, spinning in circles for this life or striving for myself.愿像保罗那样,即使同野兽争战,即使流血,即使孤独,只要你得荣耀,只要福音得传扬,我愿舍弃一切,为你付出所有!I long to live like Paul—even if I must fight wild beasts, even if I bleed, even if I walk alone—as long as You are glorified, as long as the gospel is proclaimed, I am willing to give up everything and pour out my all for You!
