After reflecting on the greatness and wisdom of God displayed throughout creation, the psalmist responds with a beautiful commitment: “I will sing to the LORD all my life.” His praise is not only for a moment when things are going well. He chooses to praise God for as long as he lives, no matter what happens.
But notice that his praise is connected with his meditation: “May my meditation be pleasing to Him.” What fills our minds eventually shapes our hearts and our lives. When our minds constantly dwell on circumstances, fears, disappointments, or what other people have done to us, our joy can easily disappear, and our hearts can become filled with judgment, complaints, and bitterness.
But when we turn our thoughts towards who God is, His goodness, wisdom, faithfulness, and grace, we can’t help praising Him and rejoicing in His salvation.
This does not mean ignoring our difficulties. It means choosing to see them in the light of who God is. Above all, we can fix our thoughts on Jesus. At the cross, we see how Christ suffered for the forgiveness of our sins; in the resurrection, we see the hope of overcoming sin, death, and Satan in Christ. As we meditate on Jesus, we rejoice in the Lord.
So let the thoughts we think over and over be praising to Him. Whatever circumstances we face today, may our hearts return again and again to the Lord, until our thoughts are filled with songs of praise to Him.
祷告Prayer
Lord, I want to sing to You all my life and praise You as long as I live. Yet I confess that my thoughts can so easily become filled with worries, disappointments, fears, and things I cannot control.
Holy Spirit, help me to guard my mind and turn my thoughts towards what is true and pleasing to You. I take the authority You’ve given me to tear down strongholds of negativity and lies within me.
May my meditation be pleasing to You. Fill my heart with Your truth until worry gives way to trust, discouragement to hope, and complaining to praise. Whatever today may bring, teach me to rejoice in You, not only for what You give me, but simply because You are my God.
May my whole life become a song of praise that brings glory to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
