Psalm 107 is a song of thanksgiving. God’s people had experienced captivity and hardship, yet when they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, He heard them and brought them into freedom. Looking back, the psalmist calls them to praise God for His unfailing love and wonderful deeds.
Their suffering was not only about difficult circumstances. They had rebelled against God’s Word and followed their own ways. Yet even in their distress, God did not abandon them. When they cried out to Him, He rescued them.
Are there “gates of bronze and bars of iron” in our own lives—things we have never been able to break through, or sins and strongholds we have struggled with for years? Pride, jealousy, judgement, bitterness, fear, or the desire to impress others? We may try again and again in our own strength, only to fail and eventually think, “I’ll never change.”
Jeremiah asks, “Can a man break iron—iron from the north—or bronze?” (Jeremiah 15:12). We cannot set ourselves free, but the Lord can. He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron. Jesus came to set captives free and release the oppressed.
When we acknowledge that we cannot overcome sin in our own strength, cry out to the Lord, repent and surrender ourselves to Him, He begins to break the chains that have held us captive. Through Jesus, there is forgiveness, freedom and new life.
祷告Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your unfailing love and mighty power. When I followed my own desires and became trapped in sin and bondage, You did not abandon me. You rescued me and brought me into light, hope and freedom.
I could never change myself or set myself free; it is all Your grace. Thank You, Jesus, for coming to save me and forgive my sins. May I spend my life praising You for Your unfailing love and the wonderful things You have done in me. Help me to live each day with a grateful heart and to tell others of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
