Psalm 71 reveals the deep understanding of God’s salvation gained by a spiritual veteran after a lifetime of battles. The faith of a believer must pass through the refining fire of major trials before they can truly come to know God’s salvation and His righteous character.

The psalmist declares that God is the One “who brings us up again from the depths of the earth” — the God who raises the dead to life. When God tested Abraham by asking him to offer Isaac, what was He really seeking? Was it simply outward obedience or the act of sacrifice itself? Not at all. God was not looking for a sacrifice; He was looking for faith. God desired to establish Abraham as righteous. That righteousness did not come merely through the act of offering Isaac, but through the faith behind it. “The God Abraham believed in is the One who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that do not exist” (Romans 4:17). The righteous shall live by faith. God counted Abraham’s faith as righteousness, allowed him to experience resurrection power, and made him a blessing to the nations.

Lord, I thank You that You have also led me on this journey of being raised from the depths. When my child was captured by the enemy and became addicted to online gaming, my heart was filled with pain, anxiety, and despair. I desperately tried to hold onto him and change him, only to discover that what I called love was actually full of fear, control, and manipulation. The harder I tried, the worse things became.

Thank You for not allowing me to remain trapped in my fleshly instincts and natural maternal affection. Through this crisis, You drove me to Yourself. You said to me, “Place your child in My hands.” When I chose to let go, the situation appeared to grow even darker. Through many tears, countless prayers, and the firm correction of my pastor, who said, “If you do not let go, your child will be destroyed by your own hands,” You exposed and stripped away the pride and control hidden within me. You taught me that I am not God. I cannot save my child. Only You can.

Then You asked me once more, “Do you believe that I am God?” At last my heart fully surrendered. “Lord, no matter what happens to my child, no matter how dark the circumstances become, I believe that You are God. I believe that You love him, and I believe that You never make mistakes.”

When my heart finally returned to You and I released my child upon the altar, Your resurrection power broke through. You Yourself began to work. You sent pastors to minister healing and deliverance to my child. You broke the generational spiritual bondage of the enemy and awakened him completely from spiritual sleep. You did not only restore my child; You transformed our entire family. Today my child belongs wholly to You and willingly follows and serves You. This is entirely the work of Your grace and the power of the Holy Spirit. The journey from desperate control to dying to self and fully surrendering to God was, for any mother, an agonising process. Yet now, seeing my child fully won by the Lord and becoming a testimony through whom living water flows, how could I not give all glory to the God who raises the dead?

Lord Jesus, I thank You. Thank You for the major trials that You lovingly tailor for each of us. I now understand that when You allow us to descend into the depths, it is so that we may receive the precious faith that overcomes Satan and the power of death. 就是照祢在基督身上所运行的大能大力,使祂从死里复活,远超过一切执政的、掌权的、有能的、主治的!(弗1:19-21Lord, may Your Church truly know the immeasurable greatness of Your power towards us who believe. It is the same mighty power that You exercised in Christ when You raised Him from the dead and seated Him far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion, and every name that can be named (Ephesians 1:19–21).

阿们!May many more families and believers receive this resurrection faith through their trials. May Your Church become a victorious people who trample upon the works of the enemy. May You receive glory in the Church throughout all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.
