【Mark 15:31】In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself!

Jesus, step by step, pressed on towards the will of God, bearing the weighty cross for the sake of sinners, 受尽罪人的凌辱,百姓在那里观看并讥笑、戏弄、辱骂他,摇着头说:enduring their scorn and humiliation. The onlookers watched, jeering, scoffing, and hurling insults at him, shaking their heads in derision, taunting, “他救了别人,不能救自己,他若是基督神所拣选的,可以救自己吧! ” "He saved others, but he can't save himself. If he's truly the chosen Christ of God, let him save himself!" The chief priests and the scribes joined in this mockery too. He willingly embraced shame to fulfill the Father's will, not uttering a single word, setting an example for me to follow, to remember Him.

Before being crucified, Jesus rebuked and exposed the sins of the scribes and the Pharisees. His rebuke stemmed from love, not to condemn them, but to offer them life. 。 Jesus cherished their souls deeply; he rebuked and disciplined them out of love. His rebuke was aimed at bringing about repentance and salvation for them. However, their hearts hardened with envy, mistaking love for hatred, light for darkness, and resolved to bring about the death of the Lord who loved them.

Who is Jesus? He is the Son of the Most High God, the sovereign ruler of all creation, the giver of life, holy and righteous... Can he not save himself? Absolutely not. If he saved himself, he couldn't save me, a sinner. He plainly stated, "No one takes my life from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father." He became flesh, fulfilling the Father's will, fulfilling his mission, taking on the form of a servant, becoming like a human being, out of love, he went to the cross.

Lord, you should not have borne all this. Lord, it should have been me nailed to the cross. You gave yourself up so that I may be satisfied. Lord, what can I offer in return for such grace? Only to offer my life to you, to no longer be one who draws near to you with lips but whose heart is far from you, to meditate constantly on the grace of you saving me instead of yourself, to rise up against sin, to deny myself, to break the jar of perfume, to pour out everything I have, to accept all your rebukes and corrections, and to live out the life of Christ, glorifying your name.
