The Bible is made up of the Old and New Testaments. It is a covenant of blood established between God and humanity. From Noah, Abraham, and David, through to Jesus Christ establishing the New Covenant through His precious blood, God committed Himself to this covenant at the cost of His own life. As the descendants of Korah reflected on God’s work throughout history, they saw that His faithfulness had never changed, and they declared with wonder: this is not a God who helps us only temporarily, or who is with us only in good times, but the God who will be our God forever and ever.
These words carry special weight when sung by the descendants of Korah. Korah’s ancestors had openly broken covenant with God, and the earth once opened to reveal the seriousness of rebellion. Yet God preserved their descendants and allowed them to minister in worship before Him. Their song proclaims that our God is a covenant-keeping God. His faithfulness is greater than our unfaithfulness, and His steadfast love never changes.
Since God has chosen us, He will also lead us faithfully to the end, guiding us through every stage of life. This promise gives us peace and hope, no matter what uncertainty, change, or hardship we face. Today, within the spiritual family of the church, we all come from different backgrounds, personalities, and life experiences. Some have walked easier paths, while others carry deep wounds; some are new believers, while others have followed the Lord for many years. Yet through the salvation of Jesus Christ on the cross, we have been brought into one body and become one family. True unity is not based on everyone being the same, but on our shared confession that God is our God forever and ever. When we choose to honour the Lord above ourselves, centre our lives on His will, submit to His leading, lay down our own rights, and walk together in love and grace, supporting and bearing with one another, genuine unity grows.
This journey of walking together in unity is not always easy. God often uses circumstances to shape us, and changes within people and situations to help us mature. When the pastors or leaders we rely on are sent to places where they are more needed, we naturally feel sadness and even loss. Yet God’s leading is never wrong, and everything He allows carries a greater purpose祂藉此教导我们,学习信靠祂的功课,坚定的倚靠那位永不改变的主。 Through these situations, He teaches us to trust Him and rely firmly on the unchanging Lord. At the same time, He raises up brothers and sisters within the church, teaching us to take responsibility and grow through serving.
As we look back, there has been both laughter and tears; moments of thanksgiving and praise, as well as seasons of confusion and struggle. Yet through all these highs and lows, we have come to know God more deeply. He has upheld us in weakness, guided us in uncertainty, comforted us in sorrow, and provided for us in times of need. Gradually we have come to realise that He is not only the great God, but the God who has made a covenant of life with us—the Lord we can trust for all our days.
Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for being our God forever and ever. When the world shakes and circumstances change, You still reign as King, and Your faithfulness continues through every generation. Forgive us for so often living by what we see and allowing anxiety to control our hearts, forgetting that You are Lord not only over yesterday, but also today and tomorrow. Give us genuine faith, so that even in dark seasons we may hold firmly to Your promises and not be shaken by storms. Give us heavenly hope, so that while waiting and being refined, we may still look to You and trust that Your ways are higher than our ways. Continue to guide us through every mountain and valley until the day we joyfully see Your face.
