In the wilderness of Judah, David remembered how he had drawn near to God in the sanctuary—how he sought the Lord and beheld His beauty. Could the hardships of his surroundings, the lack of water, the dryness of the land, the pursuit of enemies, and the danger to his life, hinder his longing for God?

Lord, David did not seek You merely to solve his urgent needs. He said, “to see Your power and Your glory.” This was a heart centered on God.

The wilderness of Judah was dry and weary, without water or life. Enemies could strike at any moment, and both he and his men were in constant danger. David, being flesh and blood, must have had every natural human reaction within him. Yet he did not set his mind on the flesh, nor did he allow his spirit to sink. He knew his calling: he was the shepherd of Israel, chosen by God. He could not fall. He must rise to behold God and seek Him earnestly—for himself, for those who followed him, and for the purpose God had entrusted to his life. He carried this responsibility. Because of it, he pressed on, disregarding his own feelings, to seek the glory and power of God. And God strengthened his soul and refreshed him again with oil.

Lord, You have also entrusted us with families, colleagues, teams, and even the revival of this generation. Should we not, because of this trust, also seek You for strength and for the anointing that transforms us? Let us grow, and let the joy, peace, and power of the Holy Spirit fill us, so that we may influence and bless others in life.

Lord, forgive us for our negligence in prayer. So often we pray, yet before we see Your power and glory, we end too soon. Lord, I want to rise together with the body of believers and cry out to You—to become a voice in the wilderness of this age. In this spiritually dry and weary generation, grant us the heart of David and Elijah, and the spirit of John the Baptist who cried out in the wilderness. Turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers. We cry out: forgive us, heal this land, revive this land, until we see Your power and Your glory.
