Compared with the earlier psalms, Psalm 65 suddenly opens into a completely different picture — God sending rain upon the earth, and all creation rejoicing in harvest. David understood that the calming of circumstances and the abundance of blessing both came from one source: God’s forgiveness of sin. Verses 1–4 reveal the spiritual principle behind God’s blessing: drought often comes from humanity’s original sin, and only when people humbly come before God, admitting that “iniquities prevail against me,” and truly repent, does God cleanse their sin through His blood. Once people are restored to “dwell in Your courts” (verse 4), then come the blessings of peace among the nations (verse 7) and abundance across the earth (verse 11).

This is also the work God wants to accomplish in each of His children. When we fully surrender and turn back to Him in seasons of wilderness and testing, God will pour out the “showers” of the Holy Spirit upon us, watering our lives until they become fruitful and spiritually rich. The wilderness is never God’s final destination for us — harvest is. Those seasons of sowing in tears, those valleys of refining and weeping, truly become places where the anointing oil of the Holy Spirit flows, producing the fruit of life within us.

Lord, I thank You that through every test, You have not allowed me to simply follow my own desires. Through difficult circumstances, You have refined my faith and taught me obedience. As James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life.” Lord, the experiences that once caused me to weep have now become reasons for praise. The things that once brought pain have become testimonies of Your grace. “Your lovingkindness is better than life” is now deeply written upon my heart. Through Your immeasurable love, You have led me into deeper blessing.

Lord, when I look back over these years, my heart overflows with gratitude. My family and I once had no hope. If You had not shown us mercy, we would already have sunk into darkness and despair. It was Your endless grace and unfailing love that lifted us from the mire. You gave Your life in exchange for ours. You chose to save us instead of saving Yourself — what incredible grace this is. Lord, You have brought me into the richness of true life and trained me to become like a grain of wheat that falls into the ground and dies so that it may bear fruit. Lord, we are completely unworthy, yet we have received such amazing grace. May I never forget Your goodness or the great love shown through Your redemption.

Lord, once again I place my family into Your hands. Since You began this gracious work, You will surely bring it to completion. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” will remain our firm and lasting declaration. Please guard our hearts so that we do not turn away from Your ways. Obedience is better than sacrifice. I want to hold tightly to You even through hardship, so that my inner person may grow strong and future generations may witness Your faithfulness and glory. Lord, the road ahead may still hold storms, but I know Your grace will always be enough. Through the Lord who loves me, I will overcome completely.
